The Market @ The Village is now closed for the season. A special thanks to our generous sponsors who give unselfishly every season to make the SupperMarket and Farmers’ Market a possibility; John and Liz Hawley, Brookfield Residential, Ivest Properties, Gatta Homes, Wineries of Niagara on the Lake, CIBC, Town of Niagara on the Lake, Penner Building Centre, Richard J.W. Andrews, AE Media, a heartfelt thank you goes out to each and every one of you. Thank you to all of our amazing farmers and vendors, dedicated customers, media, talented musicians, wineries and breweries, and our incredibly supportive community.
The last Farmers’ Market of the season was held on Saturday October 4th. It was a cold and blustery day, but our faithful customers came one last time to celebrate Niagara’s harvest with us. We were entertained by local musician Cory Cruise; he did have to take more breaks than usual, just to warm his fingers to strum his guitar! The first annual Harvest Celebration Pie Competition was held, and a trio of local chefs tasted their way through every entry, and scored each pie with their discerning taste buds. Bragging rights and first place for her Pumpkin Pie went to Mary Chiroco, second place for her Cherry Pie went to Gail Poulsen, and third place for her Apple Pie also went to Gail Poulsen. Thank you to Pastry Chef Catherine O’Donnell of Willow Cakes & Pastries, Chef David Watt of The Garrison House, and Chef Adam Hynam-Smith of El Gastronomo Vagabundo for sacrificing their time to taste all of the incredible entries!
We are already looking forward to next season’s Farmers Market and SupperMarket. Watch for updates on our website, on our Facebook page, and in the Town Crier in Spring 2015.
Welcome to The Market @ The Village
In its eighth season, the Market has become a wonderful gathering place for locals and visitors looking for genuine community and great local food. The Market’s vendors all originate from the Niagara Region, and all produce is 100% Niagara, grown by the people who sell it.
