With a successful opening week behind us, we look forward another fantastic year at The Market. Opening Day @ The Market started out with Lord Mayor Betty Disero ringing the opening bell at 8am. The weather was not the best, but many of our faithful customers came out to make purchases from their favourite vendors. Most of the vendors this year are set up under the Meridian Credit Union tent, which enables everyone to stay dry. We do have seating available under the tent, so patrons can enjoy their coffee and breakfast or lunch. This Saturday at the Farmers’ Market, you will find vegetable and bedding plants for your garden, fresh rhubarb, asparagus, greens, herbs, and a few other early crops. As the weeks go by, you will be seeing more farmers joining our line-up as their produce ripens. Being a “true” farmers’ market means 100% local produce sold by our Niagara farmers. Sometimes this means being a little patient while waiting to eat the best fruit and veggies that Niagara grows. But it is definitely worth the wait! As always, jams, jellies, healing salves, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, honey, artisanal gift items, and much more will be available from our vendors. Our musical entertainment this Saturday is Maya Kershaw. Maya and her dad of Creations Bakery were vendors last year at the Farmers’ Market, and we found out that she is quite the musician. She will be performing for us this Saturday from 9-1. Grab a cup of coffee and pastry, or breakfast from Sweets & Swirls Cafe, or an Island inspired sandwich from Islanders Crazy Kitchen, pull up a seat at a picnic table.
