In 2020, what am I thankful for? I am thankful for another wonderful season at The Market @ The Village. I am thankful for all of our devoted farmers and vendors, our wonderful customers, our generous sponsors, for the support of our local media, and especially thankful for our community. And in a very strange way, I am thankful for Covid-19. For bringing people together, for bringing us back to the basics, for making each and every one of us realize what is truly important in life. The people of our community have been tremendously supportive of Farmers’ Market this season. Every one of you is an intricate part of our Market community, and we would not be able to thrive without you. Our generous sponsors gave unselfishly this year to make the Farmers’ Market a possibility; John and Liz Hawley, The Wineries of Niagara on the Lake, and Limited Distillery; a heartfelt thank you goes out to each and every one of you.
We lost a very important person in our Market family this year; Liz Hawley was taken from us on July 29th. Liz and her husband John started our Farmers’ Market back in 2007, and the SupperMarket in 2013. John & Liz have been sponsors and supporters of The Market for many years. Those of us who knew Liz will always remember her energy, kindness, and zest for life. She is sorely missed.
The last Farmers’ Market of the season was held on Saturday October 3rd. What started out to be a damp, cool day, turned into a beautiful sunny, somewhat warm event, with many locals stopping by to pick up items for their Thanksgiving get togethers, and to say goodbye to their favourite farmers and vendors until the springtime. We are going to miss you all! We are already looking forward to next season’s Farmers Market and SupperMarket. Watch for updates on our website www.marketatthevillage.ca, and on our social media.
