This past Saturday @ The Market we held our very successful Kids Day, with many local families joining us for a great day of activities and community. So many smiling faces bounced, drew, played, listened, and enjoyed while Mom and Dad caught up with neighbours, shopped locally with our Farmers’ Market vendors, and enjoyed the day. A special thank you to all of those who made it happen; Kathryn Recourt & Diane Martin for providing us with story-time, the volunteers from NOTL Youth Collective who did an amazing job facepainting, Jackson Triggs Niagara Estate for providing us with the lawn games, Niagara Inflatables, and of course, our amazing Market Assistant Carrie Robinson who organized the successful event.
As we head into the last couple of weeks of August, there’s still plenty of action at the Niagara on the Lake Farmers’ Market. If you are planning on attending the Peach Festival in town this weekend, be sure to stop by the Farmers’ Market; we have peaches and peach products also! This Saturday August 12th will be chock-full of local goodness, with our vendors offering up fresh Niagara fruits and veggies, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles and preserves, juices, gift items, bath & body products, and of course, breakfast & lunch items, hot coffee & tea, and other delicious treats. Everywhere you look at this time of the year, you see ripe tomatoes. And we are not just talking beefsteak; our farmers grow so many beautiful heirloom varieties in impressive colours and flavours. On Saturday August 26th, we will be holding “Tomato Festival” @ The Market. Come out to sample some little-known varieties, try some tomato-based bath products, taste some tomato-based preserves, pick up great recipe ideas, and enter for a chance to win a Market @ The Village gift basket.
