On behalf of the farmers and vendors of the Market @ The Village, thank you to all of our customers who came out to show your support on opening day of the Farmers’ Market. Although the weather was a bit wet to begin with, Mother Nature brought out the sun as the day went on, and our town came out and supported local!
Saturday morning’s Farmers’ Market is a laid back, easy way to start off your weekend. With the relaxation of Covid restrictions, we are once again allowed to have on-premise food consumption, which is fabulous news for our shoppers and vendors. Whether you choose to sip on a coffee and savour a baked good, or chow down on a delicious made-to-order “Egg Thingy” from Sweets & Swirls Cafe, or a gourmet sandwich or cheese platter from Cheese Secrets, the picnic area within the Market is a great place to catch up with friends each Saturday. We hope to have entertainment back at the Market regularly. On opening day, we were thrilled to have the very talented Ally Bazley busk for us. Be sure to throw some money into the musician’s donation jars if you enjoy their music.
Every week, our Saturday morning Farmers’ Market is the best place to stock your kitchen with wholesome, locally grown and produced veggies and foods. This week, our farmers will have asparagus and rhubarb available, along with herbs, microgreens, early greens, vegetable plants for your garden, and beautiful hand-tied bouquets to brighten your table. Know your farmer; all produce is grown on local farms; no imported bananas and oranges here at the Market @ The Village! As always, available this Saturday, will be an array of amazing baked goods, farm-fresh eggs, cheese, gourmet compound butters, award-winning jams, honey, maple syrup, maple butter, and many take-home meal options, including frozen entrees and soups. Also set up each Saturday are our artisans, and vendors with products for bath, body, home & garden. When you purchase from The Market @ The Village, you are supporting a local farmer or producer in your own community. Keep it local!
Located in the first tent at the entrance, the Market @ The Village has set up a donation bin for Newark Neighbours, and we will be accepting non-perishable food donations. Also under the tent is a “Cookbook Lending Library” – take a book, leave a book. If you don’t have a cookbook with you, but see something you are interested in, just be sure to bring a replacement during the Market season. For the convenience of our customers, we do have an ATM onsite; some vendors accept cash only, some card only, and some either. Keeping the environment front & centre, shoppers are welcome to and encouraged to bring their own reusable bags.
The Market @ The Village’s Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from now until October 8th from 8am to 1pm.
